Avior Principal Seatrade has announced the delivery of four specialized reefer container ships in 2016 and updated Avior on the status of the newbuilding program.
2016 will start with the delivery of four 2200 TEU specialized reefer container ships from Yangfan shipyard in Zoushan, China. Each ship will have 650 reefer slots and be equiped with a water cooling system for reefer containers under deck making the ship more fuel efficient. A remote monitoring system will facilitate continuous monitoring of the reefer containers.
In addition to this two more 2200 TEU specialized reefer containerships have been orderd for delivery in 2017. The delivery schedule of the "Color-Class" ships is planned as follows:
Seatrade Orange - Jan 2016
Seatrade Red - Feb 2016
Seatrade White - Mar 2016 Seatrade Blue - Apr/May 2016 Seatrade Green - 2017 Seatrade Gold - 2017
Parallel to this Seatrade is presently working on a fleet renewal project for conventional reefer ships in the handysize segment (300,000cft). The ships will all be freezers ideal for the transportation of frozen fish and squid and will be amongst the most efficient in world. If negotiations work out as planned four vessels will be ordered with an option of an additional four for delivery in 2018.
All in all good news for Seatrade and Avior and something to be looking forward to.
